Gasoline prices in the Springfield area are more than 50 cents higher than one week ago according to the daily survey from AAA.
The average price of a gallon of regular fuel is $4.85, up from $4.32 one week ago, $4.27 a month ago and $3.24 one year ago.
Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy said some of the most significant and fastest increases over the past week were in the Great Lakes region including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.
GasBuddy reported the breakdown in U.S.-Iran negotiations, restrictions on Iranian exports and heightened concerns around key shipping routes continue to push oil markets higher.
