The police chief of New Berlin was killed in a crash in Wisconsin on Sunday.
Terry Nydegger was the longest-serving active member of the Sangamon County Rescue Squad according to a Facebook post from the group.
First responders and agencies throughout Sangamon County praised Nydegger for his nearly half-century of service as a first responder.
