Soundgarden helped open up the 2026 Seahawks’ season Wednesday night against the New England Patriots.
The band’s surviving members — guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd — reunited at Lumen Field in Seattle for the halftime show — with Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless handling vocals in place of the late Chris Cornell.
The group played a two-song medley featuring Soundgarden staples ‘Outshined’ and ‘Spoonman’ with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready joining them onstage.
McCready also performed a Jimi Hendrix-inspired version of the national anthem before the game.

Momsen has long cited Cornell and Soundgarden as major influences and previously performed with the band at their 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
