Unemployment in Illinois in January was up slightly from December and from a year earlier to 4.9 percent according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The agencies said the number of nonfarm payrolls increased by 18,000 over the month and 7,900 from a year ago
