Sean Plessa was the starting pitcher for Rochester in the 2A Pleasant Plains regional semifinal. He exited the mound with a no decision after a tie game at 2-2 went all the way to the bottom of the 14th inning. Plessa stepped in with two on and two outs and hit a deep shot to center field that dropped in to score the run and keep the Rockets season alive. Rochester beat New Berlin 3-2 to advance to Saturday’s regional championship game at 10 am against the host Cardinals. Both teams set a new IHSA state record in this game with a combined 47 strikeouts, the old record for a single game was 45.
