Two local men have been sentenced to federal prison in separate child pornography cases.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Illinois reported 28-year-old Christopher Wagy of Athens was sentenced last week to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty in December.
Prosecutors said Wagy purchased multiple cell phones for a minor in another state and told her to take explicit pictures of herself, which he shared on the internet.
The office also said 29-year-old Payton Dagenais of Springfield was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison after pleading guilty in February. Prosecutors said Dagenais had a long history of child pornography possession.
