Two people were shot at a Springfield residence on Sunday with the suspect later found dead in Stark County according to Springfield Police.
Officers responded to the Northbrook Mobile Home Community on Peoria Road after 3 pm and found a 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man in a residence with gunshot wounds. They were taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
Investigators said 52-year-old Scott Schattl forcibly entered the residence and fired several shots. Illinois State Police later found his vehicle in Stark County with Schattl dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No hometown was listed for Schattl.
