The Illinois unemployment rate in July was down slightly over the month according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The total number of nonfarm payrolls in July was more than 6.17 million, up 11,700 from June for a record high.
The largest increases were in private education and health services. Total nonfarm payrolls were up by nearly 12,000 from July 2025.
