A 55-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York died in an early morning accident on I-55 Thursday.
Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the death after the office responded to the accident on northbound I-55 near mile marker 83. The man was pronounced dead at 6:45 AM.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon and the identity of the man was being withheld until next of kin was notified.
The death remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Sangamon County Coroner‘s office.
